Concepts and Practices in the Training of Health Workers

This line of research is linked to Fiocruz's institutional research area 'Education and Health'. It is based on the attempt to overcome training models for health workers restricted to in-service training, which impels the development of pedagogical strategies that facilitate the appropriation and transmission of knowledge and make it possible to question working conditions. The criticism of the training model as an instrument subordinated to pragmatic and immediate action, on the one hand, and to the transmissive teaching of content detached from the reality of services, on the other, is the basis for the construction of new pedagogical perspectives adopted in the education of workers in 7 from the 1980s onwards. Therefore, in this line of research, from a historical perspective, the theoretical-methodological conceptions that support projects and political-pedagogical practices of education of health workers are studied, as well as the praxis of these projects and practices. In this sense, it seeks to understand the reasons and conceptions that guide the appropriation, by the area of health, of theories and concepts in the area of education.
